Tower Lakes Tree Service: Small Lots, Big Trees
Tower Lakes began as a lake community, and it still feels like one. The roads wind. The lots are modest and the ground is steep in places. Houses sit close to each other and close to the water. Route 59 runs along the edge and the rest is quiet.
Over all of it are big oaks and hickories, with maples, spruce and the odd willow or cottonwood down by the shore. A tree that would be an easy job on an open acre is a careful one here, because there's a roof, a deck, a wire or a neighbor's fence under almost every limb.
Tree Removal in Tower Lakes
There's usually nowhere to drop a tree, so we don't drop it. It's climbed and cut down in short sections. Each piece is tied off and lowered to the ground, then carried out to the road. That's slower than felling. It also keeps your roof and your neighbor's roof in one piece. That's how taking out a tree works on a tight lot.
Dead ash is the one not to put off. Emerald ash borer killed most of the untreated ash in Lake County, and dead ash turns brittle fast. Brittle wood is unpredictable, and unpredictable is the last thing you want over a house. Dead tree removal gets harder each year it waits.
For any large tree, we come look first. It's free, and on these lots it's the only honest way to price the job.
Quotes, Access and Pricing for Tower Lakes
Text a photo of the tree, limb or stump with your town. A written price follows. On a small job the photos are enough. Big removals get the free visit.
The price is one flat number, agreed before cutting. It's built on the tree's size, where it stands, its condition, access and whether the stump is included. On lots like these, access does a lot of the talking. Narrow roads, steep driveways, stairs down to the lake and no gate to the back yard all mean more work by hand. Photos of the way in help as much as photos of the tree.

Tree Trimming and Pruning in Tower Lakes
When houses sit under the canopy, trimming is regular upkeep. We clear limbs off roofs and chimneys, take out deadwood before it lands on the deck, and lift low branches over the road and driveway.
Pruning has a calendar. Most trees should be trimmed while dormant, late fall through winter. Oaks are stricter: no pruning from roughly spring to early fall, since fresh cuts attract the beetles that spread oak wilt. Elms are similar. Broken, dead or hazardous limbs can come off any time of year.
If you're after more light or a look at the lake, ask about thinning. Don't ask for topping. We don't do it, and a topped oak is a ruined oak.
Storm Cleanup and Fallen Limbs
On a small lot, a big limb coming down almost always lands on something. If a tree or limb is on your house, your car or across the driveway, call us. Don't text. We get to storm calls as fast as the crew can, with no promised time.
If it took a wire down with it, or it's resting on one, keep away and call ComEd first. That's theirs before it's ours.
When it's safe, we cut it free and handle getting the limb down and out of the yard. If the rest of the tree is damaged, we'll tell you what we see and price that too.
Stump Grinding for Tower Lakes Yards
With a small yard, a stump is hard to ignore. Grinding the stump out takes it below the surface so you can plant grass or set a few pavers there.
Underground utilities have to be marked before any grinding. In Illinois that means a free call to JULIE at 811. Lines run close together on small lots, so this matters.
Whether a grinder can reach the stump is the other question. If the only way to the back is a narrow path or a set of steps, send a photo. We'll tell you plainly if it can be done.
Permits, Cleanup and Hauling
Many Lake County villages have tree rules, and some require a permit before removing a tree, even on your own lot. Check with village hall before we schedule. If a tree sits on shared or community ground near the lake, find out who's responsible for it first.
Cleanup is included. We rake up, and the brush and wood get hauled away, chipped and recycled, since Illinois keeps yard waste out of landfills. Want to keep the wood? Tell us and we'll leave it cut where you want it.
Our insured crew works out of Libertyville. We also cover Wauconda and Lake Barrington.
