What sets the price

Tree Service Cost Factors

  • SizeHow much wood there is to cut, lower and haul.
  • LocationOpen yard, or over a roof, a fence or the neighbor's garage.
  • ConditionDead and brittle wood is slower to work in.
  • AccessWhether equipment can reach it, and whether the stump is included.

How Tree Service Pricing Works in Libertyville and Lake County

Every job gets one flat price, in writing, agreed before any cutting starts. We don't charge by the hour. Quotes are free. Small jobs are priced from photos you text us. Large removals get a visit first so the price is right.

We don't post dollar amounts here because an honest number depends on your tree. Two trees the same height can be very different jobs. One stands in an open back yard. The other hangs over a roof, a fence and the neighbor's garage.

What Tree Removal Cost Depends On

Five things drive the price of taking a tree down.

FactorWhy it matters
Size of the treeMore wood to cut, lower, chip and haul
Where it standsA tree over a roof, fence or wires comes down in small roped pieces
Its conditionDead and brittle wood is less predictable and slower to work in
AccessWhether equipment can reach it or everything is carried out by hand
The stumpGrinding is priced with the removal or left out, your choice

What Tree Trimming Cost Depends On

Trimming is priced on how much comes off and how hard it is to reach. Clearing a few low limbs over a driveway is a small job. Working through the whole crown of a mature oak is not. Tell us what's bothering you about the tree, and we'll price the trimming around that.

What Stump Grinding Cost Depends On

Mostly the size of the stump, how many there are, and whether we can get the grinder to it. Several stumps in one visit cost less per stump than one at a time. See stump grinding for what to expect.

What's Included in the Price

The quote covers the whole job.

  • The cutting, from first cut to last
  • Lowering pieces safely where there's something underneath
  • Chipping the brush
  • Hauling the brush and wood away
  • Raking up when we're done

How to Keep the Cost of Tree Work Down

A few things that are in your hands.

  • Do several trees or stumps in one visit instead of separate trips
  • Keep the firewood. Leaving the wood cut on site can mean less to haul
  • Clear cars, furniture and planters from under the tree before we arrive
  • Don't wait on a dead tree. The longer it stands, the more brittle and harder to work in it gets
  • Send clear photos: the whole tree, the base, and what's underneath it

Emergency Tree Service Pricing

Storm jobs are quoted the same way, one price before we start, but they often have to be priced on site because photos don't show what's under tension. If your insurance may cover it, take pictures before anything moves. We don't deal with your insurer for you, but we give you a written price you can pass along. More on emergency tree work.

How to Get an Accurate Tree Service Quote

The better the photos, the closer the first number. Three shots cover most jobs.

  • The whole tree, top to bottom, from far enough back to see what's around it
  • The base of the trunk, close up
  • Whatever is underneath or beside it: roof, fence, shed, wires, the neighbor's garage
  • For a stump, put a shovel or a shoe next to it for scale
  • Tell us your town and how we'd get equipment into the yard

Comparing Tree Service Quotes

If you're getting more than one price, make sure they're for the same job. Quotes that look far apart are often just covering different things.

Ask each company the same four questions. Is the crew insured for tree work? Is cleanup and hauling included, or is the wood left where it falls? Is the stump included? And is the price in writing before the work starts? A low number that leaves out hauling and the stump isn't really lower.

Tree Service Cost Questions

How much does tree removal cost in Libertyville?

It depends on the tree's size, where it stands, its condition and how we can get to it. We don't post prices because every tree is different. Text a photo to (224) 944-8652 and we'll give you a written flat price for your tree.

Is the estimate free?

Yes. Photo quotes are free, and so is the visit when a large removal needs to be looked at in person. There's no obligation to book.

Is the price final?

Yes, for the job we quoted. The price is agreed in writing before any cutting. If you add a tree or a stump on the day, we price that separately before doing it.

Is stump grinding included with tree removal?

Only if you ask for it. Some people want the stump gone and some don't care. We quote the removal and the stump as separate lines so you can decide.

Why is a dead tree sometimes more expensive to remove?

Dead wood is brittle and less predictable, so the crew has to work more slowly and carefully. A tree that has been dead a long time is harder to take down safely than one that died recently.

Does the price include hauling the wood away?

Yes. Chipping the brush, hauling the wood and raking up are all in the price. If you'd like to keep the wood for firewood, tell us and we'll leave it cut where you want it.
