What Lakefront Tree Service Does
Four things. We take trees down. We trim and prune them. We grind stumps. And we clear fallen trees and broken limbs after storms. That's the whole list, and every page on this site is about one of those four jobs.
We're an insured tree crew based in Libertyville, in the middle of Lake County. That puts every town in the county within a short drive, from Waukegan and Zion on the lake to Antioch, Wauconda and the Barrington corner.

Tree Removal, Trimming, Stump Grinding and Storm Work
Tree removal is the biggest job we do. Near a house, a tree doesn't get dropped. It gets taken apart from the top, piece by piece, with each section lowered on ropes so nothing underneath is touched. Dead trees, ash trees and big trees over roofs each get handled a little differently.
Trimming and pruning is the careful job. The goal is to take off what's dead, broken, rubbing or in the way and leave a tree that looks natural. Stump grinding finishes a removal, or deals with an old stump someone else left. And emergency tree work is what happens after a storm, when a tree or a limb is somewhere it shouldn't be.
How We Run a Tree Job
You text a photo of the tree, the limb or the stump, and tell us your town. Small jobs get a written price from the photos. Big removals get a free visit first, because a photo can't show everything about a large tree near a house.
The price is one flat number, in writing, agreed before any cutting. We don't charge by the hour. See how pricing works for what goes into it.
On the day, the crew does the work, chips the brush, hauls the wood away and rakes up. If you want the firewood, tell us beforehand and we'll leave it cut where you want it.
The Tree Jobs People Call About Most
Most calls to a tree service in Lake County come down to a handful of situations. If yours is on this list, it's a normal job.
- A dead ash or another dead tree close to the house or garage
- Limbs hanging over the roof, the driveway or the neighbor's yard
- A tree that's leaning, splitting or lifting at the roots
- An old stump in the middle of the lawn
- A tree or a big limb down after a storm
- A tree that has simply outgrown the spot it was planted in
How We Think About Trees
A few rules we work by. They're the same ones any careful tree crew follows.
- We don't top trees. Cutting the top flat leaves big wounds and weak regrowth
- We don't prune oaks in the growing season, because of oak wilt. Winter is the time
- We'll tell you when a trim is enough, before you pay for a removal
- We'll tell you when a dead tree shouldn't wait, because dead wood gets brittle
- We call for utility marking before grinding. In Illinois that's JULIE at 811
- We don't touch power lines. That's the power company's job
Why Insurance Matters for Tree Work
Tree work is heavy, high and close to houses. Things can go wrong even on a careful crew. That's why the first question to ask any tree company is whether it's insured for tree work. We are.
Ask it of everyone you get a price from, not only us. A low price from a crew with no coverage can turn into your problem if a limb lands on your roof or your neighbor's fence.
What We Don't Do
We don't plant trees, spray them, inject them or diagnose diseases. We don't install cables or braces. We don't do landscaping or lawn care. And we don't work in or touching power lines.
Keeping to four jobs is how we stay good at them. If your tree needs something we don't do, like a health check on a tree that might be saved, we'll say so plainly instead of selling you a removal.
Tree Permits in Lake County
Many Lake County villages have their own tree rules. Some require a permit before a tree is removed, even on private property. The rules change from town to town, so we don't guess. Check with your village hall before the job is scheduled. It's usually one phone call.
