Indian Creek Tree Service: The Lots and the Trees
There's no downtown here and no long list of landmarks. Indian Creek is houses, yards and trees, sitting next to Vernon Hills. We'd be making things up if we said much more than that, so we won't. What matters for tree work is what's standing in your yard, and that we can talk about.
Yards in this part of the county tend to carry the same mix. Maples, usually silver or Norway. An oak or two where the lot is older. Spruce and pine along a property line for screening. Cottonwood or willow where the ground stays wet. And ash, most of it dead by now or already gone. Not sure what you've got? Send a photo and we'll tell you what it is and what the job looks like.
Emergency Tree Service in Indian Creek
Start here if something just fell. A tree on the house, on a car or blocking the driveway is a phone call, not a text: (224) 944-8652. We can't promise a set arrival time, and anybody who does after a big storm is guessing. What we can say is that storm calls get handled as fast as the crew can get there, and the dangerous ones go first.
Until we arrive, keep people out from under anything hanging or leaning. Don't try to pull a limb off a roof yourself. If a wire is down or a tree is resting on one, that's ComEd's to make safe before any tree crew touches it. Our emergency tree crew takes over from there. Cut it off the structure, get it on the ground, open up the driveway.
Tree Removal and Dead Ash in Indian Creek
Most removals come down to one of three things. The tree is dead, it's too close to something, or it's coming apart. Dead is the urgent one. Emerald ash borer wiped out most untreated ash across northern Illinois, and a dead ash doesn't stand quietly. It dries out, goes brittle and starts dropping tops and limbs. Removing a dead tree only gets harder the longer it waits.
A healthy tree that's just in the wrong place has less of a clock on it. We look at how it leans, what's under it and how we'd get it out of the yard. A tree in open lawn can be simple. The same tree over a garage or a fence comes down piece by piece. Either way, a full removal is priced before we cut, and hauling everything off is part of it.
Tree Trimming and Deadwood Pruning
Not every problem tree needs to go. A lot of the time it needs the dead wood out, the low limbs lifted off the roof and some weight taken off a long branch. That's trimming and pruning, and it's much of what keeps a mature tree from turning into a removal later.
We'd rather do it in the cold months. From late fall through winter most trees are dormant and take cuts better. For oaks it's more than a preference. Pruning an oak in spring or summer invites the beetles that spread oak wilt, so we hold oak work for winter. Elms get the same treatment. Anything broken or hanging is different. That comes down now, whatever the month. And we don't top trees. Cutting the top flat is bad practice.
What Tree Work Costs in Indian Creek
You won't find a price list here, and you won't get a number from us before we've seen the tree. What you get is a written, flat price for the whole job before anything is cut. Quotes are free. Small work is priced from your photos. Larger removals get a free visit so we can walk around the tree.
Five things set the number. How big the tree is. Where it stands, since open yard is easier than over a roof, fence, garage or wires. What shape it's in, because dead and brittle is slower work. How we get equipment to it. And if the stump is part of the job. The pricing page goes through each one in plain terms.
Stump Grinding and Stump Removal in Indian Creek
A stump left behind is something to mow around for years. We grind it down below the lawn so you can fill the spot, seed it and forget it was there. If you're after getting a stump out of the yard to make room for a new bed, a shed or a fence line, tell us what's going there so we know how much of it needs to go.
Before the grinding starts, buried utilities have to be located and marked. That's JULIE, a free call to 811. It needs to be done ahead of the job, so we plan the date around it. Point out anything private too, like sprinkler heads or low-voltage lighting.
Check Village Rules Before Removing a Tree in Indian Creek
Small village or not, ask before you cut. Many villages in Lake County have tree rules, and some require a permit to remove a tree on private property. We don't know what yours will say on any given day and we won't guess. Call village hall first. If there's a homeowners association on your street, ask them too.
Once you've got a yes, text us and we'll put you on the schedule.
Brush, Logs and Cleanup
Everything we cut, we take. Brush is chipped, logs are loaded, and the yard is raked before we leave. Illinois keeps yard waste out of landfills, so none of it gets dumped. It's recycled. If you'd like the wood, we'll leave it cut wherever you want it. Just say so when you book.
We're an insured crew out of Libertyville, working Monday through Saturday from 7am to 7pm and Sundays by appointment. Indian Creek is close to home for us, and we run the same jobs next door. Cross the village line and it's our tree service in Vernon Hills, same crew and same process.
