Tree Service in Round Lake Beach: Text a Photo, Get a Price
Here's how it goes. You text a photo of the tree, the limb or the stump to (224) 944-8652 and say you're in Round Lake Beach. A written price comes back. Little jobs, like one limb or a small tree out in the open, can be quoted straight from the pictures. A big removal gets a free visit first, because a photo never shows the wires behind the tree or how skinny the side yard is.
Then you pick a day. The crew shows up, does the work, cleans up, and hauls off the brush and the wood. That's the whole process. The crew is insured for tree work and runs Monday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm, with Sundays by appointment.
The price is a single flat figure for the job. It moves with the size of the tree, what's underneath it, the shape it's in, how easy it is to reach, and whether the stump goes too. For the long version, see how we price tree work.
Small Lots, Big Trees: What Round Lake Beach Yards Are Like
The older blocks, the ones close to the lake, were laid out with small lots. Houses sit near each other. Side yards are narrow. Garages, sheds and fences fill up the back. And somewhere in there is a silver maple or a cottonwood that has had decades to get enormous.
Farther out, north of Rollins Road and east toward Route 83, the subdivisions are newer and the yards have a little more breathing room. Trees out there run younger: maples, honey locusts, pears, and spruces planted along the fence for privacy.
The usual lineup on the Beach is silver maple, box elder, cottonwood, willow near the water, Siberian elm, mulberry along the fence lines, and a lot of ash that's dead or close to it. A few big oaks are still standing too.
Round Lake Beach Tree Removal in Tight Spaces
On a small lot you can't just notch a tree and let it go. There's no room for it to land. So the tree is taken apart from the top down. A climber goes up, cuts a section, and it's lowered on a rope to the ground crew. Then the next section. The trunk comes down last, in short lengths.
That's slower than dropping a tree in a field, which is why location is a big part of the price. A maple hanging over two roofs and a fence is a different job than the same maple in an open corner. If yours is one of the giants, our page on removing a very large tree explains what's involved.
Don't sit on a dead one. Ash killed by emerald ash borer goes brittle quickly, and a brittle tree is harder to climb and harder to control. Sooner is safer. The general steps are on the tree removal page.
Stump Grinding in Round Lake Beach Backyards
Plenty of yards have a stump left from a tree somebody cut years ago. It sprouts every spring and it's in the way of the mower. Grinding takes it down below the lawn so you can fill the spot, seed it and forget a tree was ever there.
Two things to know. First, the grinder has to be able to reach the stump, so mention gates and tight side yards when you text. Second, buried lines get marked before any grinding. Here in Illinois that's a free call to JULIE at 811, and it needs to happen a few days ahead. Read more about grinding out a stump.
Tree Trimming, Pruning and Limb Removal
Not every problem tree has to go. Often it's one limb. The one resting on the garage roof, the one hanging over the neighbor's car, the dead one above the swing set. Take off the right limb, cut clean at the right spot, and the problem's solved. That's limb removal, and it's usually a small job.
For a full trim, the best window for most trees is late fall through winter, while they're dormant. Oaks and elms really do need to wait for winter. Cut an oak in summer and the fresh wound pulls in the beetles that carry oak wilt. Dead, cracked or dangerous limbs are different. Those come off whenever you spot them.
One thing we won't do is top a tree. Lopping the whole top off flat is bad practice, and the tree answers with a mess of weak sprouts.
Fallen Trees and Storm Emergencies in Round Lake Beach
Big soft-wooded trees and summer wind don't mix. Silver maples split. Willows shed. Dead ash snaps off partway up. If a tree is on your house, on a car, or blocking your driveway, call (224) 944-8652 instead of texting. We handle storm calls as fast as the crew can get there.
If wires are involved, back away and call ComEd. A tree touching power lines belongs to the power company first, and we don't work in or around live lines. After they've cleared it, we can take care of getting the fallen tree out.
Something cracked and hanging over the front walk counts as urgent too, even if it hasn't dropped yet. That's what our emergency tree service is for.
Village Permits, Cleanup and Where the Wood Goes
Lots of Lake County villages have tree rules, and some require a permit before a removal even when the tree is on private property. Your village may require one, so check with village hall first. It's a short call and it beats finding out afterward.
As for the mess, there isn't one when we leave. Brush is chipped. Wood is hauled off and recycled, because Illinois doesn't allow yard waste in landfills. Sawdust is raked up and cleared off the walks. If you'd like the wood for burning, tell us before the job and we'll leave it cut where you want it.
