How a Deer Park Tree Quote Works
Start here, because it's simple. Get a clear picture of the tree, limb or stump on your phone. Text it to (224) 944-8652 and tell us you're in Deer Park. You get a written price back.
Small jobs get quoted straight from the photos. Bigger removals get a free visit so we can see the tree, what's around it and how we'd get to it. After that you choose a day.
The price is one flat number for the job, and it's settled before a saw starts. Quotes are free. We don't publish prices because the same size maple can be an easy job in one yard and a hard one in the next. Here's what the price is based on.
The Yards and Trees We See in Deer Park
Most of Deer Park is single-family homes on generous lots. Rand Road cuts across the village, with Lake Zurich to the north and Kildeer to the east. Part of the village is in Lake County and part is in Cook. Cuba Marsh Forest Preserve sits along the west side, and Deer Grove Forest Preserve is just south across the county line. So there's a lot of old woods around, and plenty of it spills into back yards.
The trees match. Oaks and hickories that were here before the houses. Maples, lindens and honeylocust planted in the front yards. Spruce and pine rows for privacy. Cottonwoods and willows in the low, wet spots. And ash, most of it dead now.
Tree Removal in Deer Park
A tree usually comes out for a plain reason. It died. It's cracked. It's dropping limbs on the patio. It's pushing on the garage. Whatever the reason, taking a tree down near a house is slow, careful work. It comes apart from the top, a piece at a time, and each piece is lowered so it doesn't land on anything you care about.
Dead ash deserves a mention. Emerald ash borer wiped out most of the untreated ash across northern Illinois. A dead ash dries out and gets brittle fast, and brittle trees don't give warnings. If there's one along your back lot line, it's worth having that ash removed before a windy day decides for you.
Trees on the edge of a forest preserve are a common question. If the trunk is on preserve land, it isn't yours to cut and it isn't ours either. If you're not sure whose it is, find your lot line before anybody cuts.
Stump Grinding in Deer Park Lawns
Stumps don't rot away quickly. An oak stump can sit in the lawn for years. Grinding is the fast fix. The stump gets chewed down below the surface, and what's left is a mound of chips and soil you can rake flat and seed.
Ask for it up front and grinding the stump goes into the same flat price as the removal. We also grind old stumps left from past work.
One step comes first. Underground utilities have to be located and marked, and in Illinois that's a free call to JULIE at 811. Mention any private lines too, like irrigation or landscape lighting wire, since JULIE doesn't mark those.
Tree Trimming and Pruning in Deer Park
A problem tree doesn't always have to go. A lot of the time a good trim fixes it. Take the dead wood out. Pull the limbs back off the roof. Lift the low branches over the driveway.
The calendar matters more than people think. Late fall through winter is the best time to trim most trees, when they're dormant. For oaks it's close to a rule: no pruning from spring through early fall, because fresh cuts attract the beetles that spread oak wilt. Treat elms the same way. A broken or dangerous limb is the exception and can come off any time.
We don't top trees. If someone offers to flatten the top of your maple, say no. It ruins the tree.
Emergency Tree Service After a Storm
When a tree lands on the house, the car or across the driveway, pick up the phone and call. Texting is fine for quotes, not for that. We get to storm calls as fast as the crew can, but we won't give you a time we can't keep.
Stay away from anything near a wire. If a limb is on a power line or the line is down in the yard, that's ComEd's job first. Call them and keep everyone back.
After that, our emergency crew cuts the tree clear, gets the driveway open and hauls away the debris. If you can do it safely, snap a few photos of the damage before we start.
Village Permits, Cleanup and What We Don't Do
Many villages around here have their own tree rules, and some require a permit before a tree is removed, even on private property. Yours may be one of them, so call village hall before you book.
Cleanup is part of every job. We rake, clear the brush and haul the wood. Because Illinois keeps yard waste out of landfills, brush is chipped and wood is sent for recycling. If you'd like the wood for the fireplace, say so and we'll leave it cut where you want it.
A few things we don't do, so you're not left waiting on us for them: planting, spraying or injections, diagnosing or treating disease, cabling and bracing, landscaping, lawn care, and any work in or touching power lines. We're an insured crew out of Libertyville, and we also handle tree work in Barrington and up in Lake Zurich.
